Recently, while visiting the Garment District of Boston in search of a Halloween costume, I asked my friend whether I should aim for my costume to be sexy, funny, or scary. He replied that if I attempted the first, I would achieve the latter two. Probably true. Most girls go with sexy, and that’s fine. As Cady Heron put it: “In the real world, Halloween is when children dress up in costumes and beg for candy. In Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it. The hard-core girls just wear lingerie and some form of animal ears.” I personally can’t take the idea of dressing sexy for Halloween seriously, and typically go for your standard humorous costume (Cereal Killer, 2007) or scary get-up (zombie, 2008-2009). I’ve heard there will be a lot of Vampires this year so maybe I’ll have some company.

Halloween: Trick or....Turning Tricks?
Recently, while visiting the Garment District of Boston in search of a Halloween costume, I asked my friend whether I should aim for my costume to be sexy, funny, or scary. He replied that if I attempted the first, I would achieve the latter two. Probably true. Most girls go with sexy, and that’s fine. Hangover Chic
The next time you are heading to brunch or the corner coffee shop and think you are too hungover for fashion....consider an attempt at "hangover chic." Wear your comfortable basics (hoodie with skinny jeans or spandex), but throw on some key accessories and give the paparazzi reason to look again. Slide up the sleeves of your sweatshirt and throw on some gold bangles. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not layer a fur vest over your hoodie? So chic. With your aviators and hair swept back, you’ll be a dead ringer for Rachel Bilson on her way to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.
Must have: Jean Spandex
Have you ever bought an item of clothing and worn it so much you later couldn't remember how you survived without it? That’s how I feel about jean spandex right now. I know that the last time you wore jean spandex you probably had it paired with an extra large tie dye t-shirt and were on your way to summer camp, but trust me, they are BACK. I bought my first pair a month ago at Intermix (by Blank) and I cannot imagine life before them.
Why jean spandex are a necessity:
- They are stretchy and comfortable like spandex
- They fit perfectly inside boots, with no awkward wrinkling or extra material to deal with
- They are so cute
